I don’t want a mortgage

On the various forums I’ve posted details of my plan on, I have seen the same comment a few times ~ “Ha, you won’t even make £10” well as of this morning I have Checkpoint 1: reached.

Yes I have a long way to go to reach my target, but this isn’t just about my target, this is also about proving certain types of people wrong and each time I get an email in my inbox with the subject “Notification of donation received” it really does bring a smile to my face.

As I have previously mentioned this adventure/quest/whatever it is, is also educating me in the way of the web. Getting your page to the top of Google is almost impossible for a single person to achieve, it’s no longer about the keywords in your hidden HTML code, it’s about backlinks, social bookmarking, articles which all relates to PageRank. Which brings me to my new problem, how to make this site known without being treated as a Spammer. I have been posting on various forums about a “cheeky guy who is asking for help with his mortgage”. The result? Comments, Link backs, donations and exclusions . I think I need a new graph, forum exclusions/blacklist count…

Any web marketing guru’s out there??? Call me

Well after last week, this week has been very quiet.  Busy with work and birthdays I haven’t spent much time on this.  I yet to hear back from ITV news and in some respects I would like to see if this could work via the internet alone.   I have added a “digg link” to see if that would increase the hit and donation rate (please click the link and increase the digg count )

I have also added a general “Share this” button, which links to various social bookmarking site; many of which I’ve never heard of.

One final comment for today, if this ever teaches me anything it’s how strange the internet is.   I have included Google Analytics and the data it provides is very interesting.  I can see how people find the site (search engines, forums, direct), it seems I have not been the only one to raise the question “would this work?” about this site.    Like the post’s I’ve made the responses are mixed, but interesting to read the comments of others about what I have started…

In an attempt to get the web site known and people supporting the idea I have been posting some messages on a number of forums (asking the question, “would this work?” then posting a link to this site) plus I also emailed my local Radio Station.   And now I am going to be on the Radio!  So tomorrow morning between 6 & 10, I will be on GWR Wiltshire!!!   Those that know me well will be aware of my 2 previous radio experiences, for those that don’t…First was a question raised by Dermot O’Leary on Radio 2; “What was the biggest lie you have been told which you believed?“  I won, with the lie my wife told me many years ago about Kevin Costner and his fear of trees, a fear so strong Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves

was filmed against a green screen and the trees added after, I believed her for months :-$Then there was the mistaken subscription to a lesbian text dating service when I tried to text Scott Mills @ Radio 1 about  how at 36, I have never ironed :-$

Maybe the fund will start to increase very soon.  Fingers crossed.
